tournaments on the annual tenpin bowling calendar, gets underway today
in Melaka, Malaysia, with the official practice for men and women and
the opening ceremonies. Real action starts on Monday morning with the first of three 8-game qualifying blocks. Bowlingdigital.com will be providing live coverage from Melaka. Bowlingdigital.com will also partner with the United States Bowling Congress
to live stream the semifinals and finals of the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling
World Cup and portions of the earlier rounds if possible.
The 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will be held from Nov. 13-20 in Melaka, Malaysia. Bowlingdigital.com will be providing live coverage illustrated with high quality photos by Beat Grauwiler and Flavio Cuva's much-anticipated high definition videos. Bowlingdigital.com will also partner with USBC to live stream the semis and finals and portions of the earlier rounds if possible. Many of the 156 players from 91 countries have arrived in Melaka and tested the lanes on Saturday during the unofficial practice. 
The 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup will be held at Melaka International Bowling Center in Melaka, Malaysia. Bowligdigital's Flavio Cuva and Beat Grauwiler joined Swiss World Cup participants Bigi Manico and Larry Vontobel on a sightseeing tour in Melaka. Though the foursome used he traditional Malaysian public transportation system, it was not one of the usual sightseeing tours. QubicaAMF and the Melaka International Bowling Center were delighted to welcome not one but two Malaysian Ministers to the center on Friday, November 13th, in advance of the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Datuk Ahmed Shabery Bin Cheek, the Malaysian Minister for Youth
and Sports, took time out from his busy schedule to come to
Melaka, look at the center and meet the players. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Mohamed Ali Bin Mohamed Rustam, had also visited the center. 
Team USA members Walter Ray Williams Jr. (pictured left) and Tennelle Milligan (right) enter the 2009 QubicaAMF World Cup next week hoping to address a couple of issues. Can Williams bring the United States its third consecutive men's championship? How will Milligan fair on the lanes after a nearly four-month break? Those questions will begin to be answered Monday when competition starts at the 45th World Cup in Melaka, Malaysia. 
The newly-built 52-lane Malacca InÂÂterÂnaÂtional Bowling Centre, which will stage the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup from Nov 15-19, has received mixed reviews from national bowlers Zulmazran ZulÂkifli (l.) and Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman (r.). The duo, who will represent Malaysia in the tournament, took to the lanes for a two-hour practice session on Tuesday. Zulmazran said he was generally satisfied with the lane conditions there.
The World Tenpin Bowling Association has signed a 15-month agreement with TSE Consulting, an international sports consultancy firm, in an effort to increase the attractiveness of the WTBA World Championships for potential host cities. Working in cooperation with TSE Consulting, the WTBA wants to ensure that the World Championships continue to play a key role in its long-term strategy of becoming an Olympic sport as well as develop a strong connection between the sport and the host city.
Licensors of the PBA Tour for Eurosport, KPTV of London, has announced the biggest ever global audience for the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Melaka, Malaysia. Not only will this prestigious event be shown live across Southeast Asia on Nov. 19th, KPTV CEO Phil Mison (pictured) has also secured broadcasting deals for the Eurosport audience (6 hours of programming) and, for the first time, across all-Africa through the Supersports channel. KPTV anticipate further interest from other territories in the build up to this year's event, 
2005 World Cup Champion Michael Schmidt of Tyndall, Manitoba, and Montreal, Quebec's Caroline Lagrange (pictured) are days away from a trip around the globe to represent Canada in the bowling world's annual gathering of nations, the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Malaysia will Schmidt's fourth World Cup in 5 years. Lagrange is a newcomer to the World Cup's international level, USBC silver level coach Sandy Lowe, Lindsay, Ontario, will
accompany the young Canadian talent to Malaysia.
Daniel Falconi (l.) and Sayuri Yamada (r.) claimed the men's and women's title in the high-scoring Copa Mexico 2009 and will represent their country in the 2009 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. In the championship match in best-of-three game format, Falconi, the No. 2 seed, swept tournament leader Enrique Gutierrez, two-games-to-none, while top seeded Yamada came back from being down 0-1 to defeat No. 2 Iliana Lomeli, 2-1.
The Finnish Bowling Federation will host the 2010 World Youth Championships from July 23 through Aug. 2, 2010 at Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland. Built in 1973, the 36-laner has previously hosted the 1977 European Championships and the 1987 World Championships and is the home of the famous Ballmaster Open. The 11th installment of this great biennial tournament is for national junior team members who must not have reached the age of 21 years on January 1, 2010. 
There is now just a month to go to the start of the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Melaka, Malaysia, and the tournament could just be in for a record. The final qualification tournaments are taking place with the final names coming in and it looks as if the 2009 BWC might equal the record of 95 participating countries set in Singapore in 2004.As usual, QubicaAMF will be running a series of seminars alongside the
tournament on lane care, pinspotters and pro shop operation in addition
to the very successful bowling center management school.
Isabelle Sacco (l.) and and her brother-in-law, Thierry Sacco (r.) will represent France in the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Melaka, Malaysia. The duo already represented their country in the 2005 World Cup in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Isabelle, who his married with Thierry's brother Francois, also participated in 1998 (Kobe, Japan), 2000 (Lisbon, Portugal) and last year (Hermosillo, Mexico), while Thierry bowled in Caracas, Venezuela, in 2006.
Wendy Kok and Maarten Pittens (pictured) won the Dutch Bowling World Cup Saturday at Chandra Bowling in Schiedam and will represent their country in the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup to be held from Nov. 13-20, 2009 at Melaka International Bowling Center in Melaka, Malaysia. Both players led their division since the qualifying which was conducted two weeks ago and widened their lead during the Round of 16 and the round robin match play finals.
Bigi Manico from Zurich and Larry Vontobel (pictured left) from Lausanne took different routes to win the Swiss Bowling QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup Qualifier Sunday at bowling center BESECO in Rümikon near Winterthur. While Manico, the local favorite, cruised to victory in the women's division with a 406 pin buffer, Vontobel was down by 77 pins heading into the final match play game. Manico and Vontobel will represent Switzerland in the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cupin Malaysia.
