Trying to become only the second multiple winner on the PBA50 Tour this season, first round leader Eddie Graham of Centerville, Ohio, averaged 234 to lead qualifying Tuesday in the PBA50 National Championship to Benefit Riley Hospital for Children.

Graham (pictured right) finished with a 3,745 pinfall total for 16 games bowling games 215, 246, 217, 227, 245, 215, 216 and 239 in the second eight-game round at Signature Lanes in Elkhart, Indiana, to edge out PBA Hall of Famer Norm Duke (above) finishing just two pins behind with a 3,743 pinfall.

“It was a lot of fun,” Graham said. “I enjoyed going back and forth with Norm. He’s one of the greatest and that’s going to make you bear down even more.”

Graham is trying to close out the season with back-to-back titles having won the DeHayes Insurance Group Championship last week in Fort Wayne, Ind., for his first career PBA50 Tour title.

“I’m not taking anything for granted,” Graham added. “I still have a job to do in match play to get to the show. If there’s anything different than when I won in Fort Wayne, it’s maybe that I’m a little more eager.”

Duke, who ranks third all-time on the PBA Tour titles list with 38 wins, is trying to win his second major of the season after winning the PBA50 World Championship in July for his second career PBA50 major and third career PBA50 Tour title. He won the PBA Senior U.S. Open in 2014 for his first major.

Three other players trying for a second PBA50 Tour win this season who advanced to match play are Hall of Famers Amleto Monacelli (left) in third with 3,663; Walter Ray Williams Jr., in fifth with 3,565, and Brian Voss (right) in eighth with 3,557.

Hall of Famer Pete Weber is the only multiple winner this year winning a record six tournaments that included a record four in a row which included two majors – including the PBA Senior U.S. Open and
USBC Senior Masters. Weber has not bowled the last three tournaments this season while nursing a lingering hip injury.

With a win, Williams (left) will reach 100 combined titles in PBA competition. In addition to his all-time record 47 wins on the PBA Tour, Williams has won 10 PBA50 Tour titles, 32 regional titles and 10 PBA50 regional titles for 99 wins in his more than three-decade career.

Rounding out the top 5 was five-time PBA Tour and three-time PBA50 Tour titlist Bob Learn Jr. (right), who finished qualifying in fourth with a 3,628 pinfall.

The top 16 players from qualifying advance directly into Wednesday’s match play with another 18 players returning for a cashers’ round to determine eight additional match play finalists. The top five players after match play will qualify for the stepladder finals at 7 p.m. ET.
