« Lavoie, MacLelland shatter five records; cruise to Men’s Doubles gold

Bidwell (pictured right) was third after the morning qualifying session, 16 pins behind Canada’s Dan MacLelland, but took the lead in the second afternoon game. He finished with a 2753 total (229.42 average) for the 12 qualifying games and takes a 54-pin lead into Saturday.
MacLelland and his team mate Francois Lavoie (l-r), who won the gold medal in Doubles, finished qualifying in second and third place with 2699 and 2694, respectively.
Fourth and last place to advance to the medal round belonged to Marcelo Suartz (right) of Brazil with 2611 (217.58). Alejandro Cruz of Mexico took the eighth and last spot to advance with 2546 and an average of 212.17.

Thashaina Seraus of Aruba was further 43 pins behind Guerrero in third place with 2591 (215.92). Aumi Guerra, Dominican Republic, was just two pins behind in fourth place with 2589 (215.75).
Kristie Lopez of Puerto Rico took eighth place with 2445 and an average of 203.75.
Qualifying pinfall will be carried forward. Match play features one-game matches with the winner receiving 20 bonus pins. The top four bowlers after match play advance to the medal round, also on Saturday.
Held every four years, the Pan American Games are an Americas version of the Olympic Games which includes the Olympic program sports and others that are not part of the Olympics. The Pan American Games are the second-largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.
The XVII Pan American Games “Toronto 2015” run from July 10-26 in Toronto, Canada, with preliminary rounds in certain events having begun on July 7, 2015. This year, 6,100 athletes from 41 countries and territories from the Americas are competing in 36 sports in the 15 host communities of the Greater Golden Horseshoe region.
Bowling competition takes place at Planet Bowl in Etobicoke, Toronto, Canada, from July 22-26. 56 players, 28 men and 28 women, from 15 Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) member federations compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles.
