Clara Guerrero paces the women's field at American Zone Ranking Final

Reigning World Ranking Masters queen Clara Juliana Guerrero of Colombia (the picture shows Clara with the trophy after winning the 2005 WRM at the Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales, Fla.) used high games of 257, 247 and 245 to take the lead in the women's division at the American Zone Ranking Final in Panama after day one. Guerrero felled 1804 pins over eight games on the 34-foot short oil pattern, an average of 225,50, to lead Venezuelan Karen Marcano by 47 pins.
Marcano (right) finished her block with 245 and 246 to leap into second place with 1757. Guerrero and Marcano dominated the field of 26 women from seven countries - Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Panama, Puerto Rico and Venezuela - on short oil, outaveraging their nearest competitor by 22 and 16 pins, respectively.
Trailing Marcano by 122 pins to sit in third place is Luz Leal, Colombia, with 1625. 4. Melody Savage (left) of Canada is fourth with 1618, with Mariana Ayala, Puerto Rico, fifth 1608. Rounding out the top 8 are 6. Annie HenrÃquez, Dominican Republic, 1590 7. Inngellimar Contreras, Venezuela, 1589 and 8. Lynne Gauthier, Canada, 1588. The American Zone Ranking Final concludes the 2005 American Zone ranking season. All players will bowl three 8-game blocks on short oil (34 feet), long oil (43 feet) and on short/long oil condition over three days to determine the eight women who will participate in the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait.
