Daniel Falconi powers his way into the lead in American Zone Ranking Final

2005AmZCDanielFalconi.jpg Mexican Daniel Falconi posted a huge 1863-series on the 43-foot long oil pattern to leap fifteen spots into the lead at the American Zone Ranking Final in Panama City, Panama. The 3-time American Zone champion had a high games of 290 en route an 232,88 average and outaveraged the his nearest competitor by more than 20 pins on Friday. Falconi leads the field off 33 players with 3397 pinfall total, a 212,31 average overall.

Luis RodrĂ­guez of Puerto Rico remained in second place with 3320 behind a 1626-set on the long oil pattern. Colombia's Santiago MejĂ­a, who rolled the third-best 1690 on Friday is third with 3251. Fourth place belonged to Mark Buffa of Canada with 1634.

The second-best 1697-series helped Johan Hernández, Colombia, to leap into fifth palce with 3224. Ed Roberts, USA, is sixth with 3202. Short-oil leader Carlo Sing, Panama, fell to seventh place with 3188 behind a 1488 series. Rounding out the top 8 is David Romero, Colombia, with 3180. The event end on Saturday with the third and final block.

The American Zone Ranking Final concludes the 2005 American Zone ranking season. All players will bowl three 8-game blocks on short oil (34 feet), long oil (43 feet) and on short/long oil condition over three days to determine the eight men who will participate in the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait.
