Danes Kamilla Kjeldsen and Mai Ginge Jensen (pictured left, r-l) were on a record pace after five games in Squad 3 but missed the No. 1 seed for the Doubles finals at the Women's World Championships due to a 367 final game to land in second place with 2855.

Carolyn Dorin-Ballard and Kelly Kulick, United States, won the preliminaries and the No. 1 seed for the finals with record 2901 six-game total and an average of 241.75.

Dorin-Ballard/Kulick will take on their team mates Shannon Pluhowsky and Liz Johnson (left, l-r) in the semis. Singapore's New Hui Fen and Jazreel Tan (right, l-r) will meet the Danes in the other semifinal.

Pluhowsky/Johnson and New/Tan were tied for third place at 2780. Due to the higher last game, 493 to 480, the Singaporeans were seeded third with the Americans in fourth place.

As in Singles, the 171 players from 33 countries have been split into three squads to bowl six games preliminaries. The top 4 teams after six games advance to the one-game semifinals starting at 1.30 p.m. with the finals immediately following.

The third and last squad in the Doubles competition completed the Doubles preliminaries Tuesday morning at 48-lane Hong Kong Bowling City in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong, China.

Kamilla Kjeldsen and Singles bronze medalist Mai Ginge Jensen (pictured left, r-l) came out of the gates quickly on Tuesday morning, Sept. 6, the birthday of WTBA Technical Delegate John "JJ" Janawicz (right), who has chosen the two oil pattern for the 2011 Women's World Championships.

The Danes both fire games over 250, Kjeldsen 256 and Jensen 259, to set the pace with 515. Team USA's Shannon O'Keefe (2549 and Stefanie Nation (193), the 2007 and 2009 WWC Singles champions, were second with 447.

2009 World Cup champion Caroline Lagrange and Isabelle Rioux (left, r-l) were 19 pins behind the Americans in third with 428 followed by Australia's Rebecca Voukolos and Rebecca Whiting in fourth with 417.

2007 Trios World Champion Helén Johnsson and current European Bowling Tour ranking leader Joline Persson-Planefors (right, l-r), Sweden, had 412 to sit in fifth place with Israel's Sarit Mizrahi and Tali Itzhak in sixth and Singapore's Cherie Tan and Shayna Ng tied for seventh place at 407.

Rounding out the top 10, who averaged 200 and better were Holly Fleming and Tania Yusaf, Scotland (406), Isabelle Derynck and Marylin Planchard, France (403), and Haruka Matsuda and Maki Nakano (left, l-r), Japan (400).

Zoe Tam and Vanessa Fung (right, r-l) from the host country Hong Kong started with a 394 game, good for 13th place.

The Danes added 473 (Kjeldsen 236, Jensen 237) to lead Squad 3 after two games with 988 or an average of 247. The Canadians moved into second place with 921 thanks to the highest score of game two, 493. Rioux had 223 and Lagrange had a huge 270 game.

Malaysia's Sin Li Jane and Jacqueline Sijore (pictured left, l-r) leaped into third place with games of 399 and 452 and a 861 total. Team USA (pictured right from left: Stefanie Nation and Shannon O'Keefe) dropped to fourth with 850 after a 403 game. Rounding out the top 5 were the Israelis who had a 441 game and 848 total.

The Danes (left) and the Canadians (right) continued hot hand and to lead after three games with 1497 and 1446 pinfall total, respectively. If they could repeat their performance in the second three-game block, the Danes would take the overall lead and Canada would move into third place.

Kamilla Kjeldsen (235 and 727/3) and Mai Ginge Jensen (274 and 770/3) had their second 500-plus game to remain atop the leaderboard averaging 249.50 for three games, the second highest score ever in the WWC history.

Isabelle Rioux (235) and Caroline Lagrange (290), however, narrowed the gap to the Danes by 16 pins behind a 525 game. Lagrange, who was 31st in Singles with 1383 and an average of 230.50, totaled 785 in the first three games, an average of 261.67.

Australia leaped into third place with 1343 thanks to a 506 game in the third (Voukolos 227, Whiting 279). Apple Posadas and Lara Posadas of the Philippines climbed the ladder to fourth place with 1292 including games of 368, 430 and 494.

German's Birgit Pöppler and Patricia Luoto were fifth with 1279 and were followed by Israel in sixth with 1278 and Colombia's Laura Fonnegra and Rocio Restrepo (pictured left, r-l) in seventh with 1259).

Rounding out the top 10 were Scotland (1250), Japan (1242 and The United States (1240).

Both Danish players had 249 in game four for 498 and 1995 total, an average of 249.38 after four games. The Danes need 907 in the last two games to earn the No. 1 seed. The Canadians suffered a 398 game (Rioux 184, Lagrange 214 and 999/4) to trail Denmark by 161 pins with 1844. The Canadians need 937 to make the finals.

Australia is a distant third with 1718 behind a 375 game with Germany in fourth (1700) and The Philippines in fifth (1678). England's Hayley Rumkee and Lisa John (pictured left, r-l) used a 464 game to leap into sixth place with 1675.

Finland's Nina Manninen and 2011 European Champions Cup winner Krista Pöllänen (right, r-l) had 475 to jump into 12th place with 1646.

The Danes secured their spot in the finals with another 490-plus game in the fifth (493) and 2488 pinfall total. They need a low game of 414 to take the No. 1 seed and 283 for second place. Kjeldsen is averaging 242.20 for the day and Jensen outaveraged her team mate by 13 pins with 255.40.

The Canadians still have a chance to make the finals behind 419 in the fifth. Rioux/Lagrange, who have 2263, need a big game (518) to top currently second-placed Singapore (2780).

None of the other teams in Squad have a chance to make the cut to the top 4. Australia is third with 2156, England fourth with 2147 and Finland fifth with 2113.

Kim Moon-Jeong and Baek Seung-Ja (above left, r-l) used games of 432 and 448 to move into the top 10. The Koreans are tied for ninth place with Japan at 2067. Singapore's Cherie Tan and Shayna Ng (above right, l-r), who led in All Events after shooting 1601 in Singles finally found something and posted a high game of 459 in the fifth to move into 12th place in the squad with 2049 (204.90 average).

Kjeldsen and Jensen, who had a low game of 477 in five games struggled in the final game, finishing with 367 or an average of 183.5, to miss the No. 1 seed by 57 pins and to finish in second place in the Doubles preliminaries with 2855 or an average of 237.92.

Canadians Rioux/Lagrange bowled a big game of 457, but not big enough to crack the top 4 as they had to settle for fifth place with 2720 (229.17), 60 pins off the pace for the finals.

The fourth Women's World Championships takes place at bowling center Hong Kong Bowling City in Hong Kong, China, from Sept. 1 through 11, 2011.

171 of the best women bowlers in the world featuring 33 countries compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, five-player Team event, All Events and Masters in the nine-day event.

The WTBA patterns "Seoul" and "Paris" will be used in Hong Kong. The 39-feet Seoul pattern is the second-shortest of the four "medium" WTBA certified lane patterns. With a length of 47 feet, Paris is the longest of all 12 certified patterns.

Singles was played on "Paris" and Doubles will be contested on "Seoul", while Trios and Team will feature both oil patterns (3 games on each pattern). Masters match play will be staged on dual lane condition (one lane dressed with the Seoul pattern and the other lane dressed with the Paris pattern).

The top four players and teams after six games in Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team, respectively, will advance to the semifinals. The No. 1 meet No. 4 and No. 2 takes on No. 3. The winners will determine the World Champion, while the losers will share the bronze medal. All matches are single-game matches.
