Malaysia's Sharon Koh shoots into the lead in 10th Brunswick Euro Challenge

Sharon Koh (pictured left) of Malaysia averaged 236.17 and posted a 1465 six-game series in the sixth qualifying squad to shoot into the lead in the qualifying of the 10th Brunswick Euro Challenge Thursday evening at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany.
The lefty rolled games of 245, 216, 216, 233, 242 and 265 for 1417 scratch and added eight pins handicap each game to beat out USBC Masters champion Jason Belmonte (right) for the top spot by nine pins.

The Australian two-hander closed out his 1456 series with the tournament's first 300 game to overtake second place with the field-best 242.67 average. Finnish-American Mika Koivuniemi, who led the qualifying since the first squad, slipped to third place with 1453.
Tobias Börding (left) of Germany is the best bowler of the host country Germany in fourth place with 1427. Rounding out the top 5 is Squad 5 leader Mohd Nur Aiman of Malaysia with 1421.
Jazreel Tan (right) of Singapore currently sits in 12th place with 1391. The top 12 at the end of the qualifying will receive one bye.

Finnish veteran Kimmo Lehtonen (left) led the 55 players of Squad 6 after four games with 989 (247.25) but had to settle for third place in that squad as he closed out with 173 and 216. His 1378 total, however, propelled the lefty into 14th place in the overall standings.

The Brunswick Euro Challenge is the fourth tournament on the 2013 European Bowling Tour schedule and one of only two "Platinum" events this season, the EBT's highest tournament category. The BEC is also the seventh stop of the World Bowling Tour and the second of three WBT events in Europe in 2013.
For the first time in 10 years of BEC competition, Europe's richest tournament will be contested at Europe's biggest bowling center, 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.
The 106.000 Euro tournament, which runs from March 19-24, offers a 15.000 Euro top prize and a PBA International title if won by a PBA member.
