Dominik Hergenröder takes pole position at 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open

    German averages over 235 in Wednesday's Squad 7 to overtake the qualifying lead; another three players crack the top 6, who are automatically qualified for Sunday's finals; cut for 50th place is currently 1096 (182.67)

    2012ECCDariaKovalova2.jpg2013EBT11DominikHergenroder.jpgDominik Hergenröder (pictured left) of Germany posted a 1415 series, an average of 235.83 for six games, in Wednesday's Squad 7 en route to take the pole position in the qualifying of the 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger.

    Hergenröder started with games of 242, 213, 215 and 211 and closed out the day with back-to-back 267 to surpass previous leader Daria Kovalova (right) of Ukraine (1404 including handicap) by 11 pins.

    Trailing Hergenröder by 15 pins was Alexander Koller, Germany, who jumped into third place overall with 1400 including a high game of 269.

    By virtue of finishing atop the leaderboard of Squads 1-7, the top six bowlers will earn automatic berths into the finals, if they will fall out of the top 50 until the end of the qualifying.

    With 70 players, 64 men and six women, from ten countries in the books, Georg Pittesser of Austria holds the 50th and last place to qualify directly to the finals with 1096 or an average of 182.67.

    Qualifying continues Thursday, July 25, with Squads 8-10 scheduled for noon, 4 and 8 p.m. CEST.

    2013EBT11DreamBowlPalaceOpenLogo_small.jpg The 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 11th stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the fourth out of six EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 20-28 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The DBO offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 6.500 Euro going to the winner, 4.500 to the runner-up, and 3.500 and 2.500 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Low to cash is 64th place for 500 Euro.

    The Dream-Bowl Palace Open features a 42 feet Kegel Sport Series Autobahn 2542 lane conditioning pattern with 25.85 ml volume oil total.

    Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Saturday July 20, through Saturday, July 27, with the last qualifying squad 18 scheduled for 8 p.m. CEST. The qualifying winner will receive a 1.000 Euro bonus.

    Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    A total of 64 players including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 6 from Squads 1-7, the top 4 from the Desperado Squad and the top four from a "High-Low" list (lowest and highest game added together; additional 10,-€ per squad) will qualify for the finals on Sunday, July 27. The top 8 qualifiers will receive two byes, while qualifiers 9-16 will bypass the first round of the finals.

    Three four-game rounds each starting from scratch will trim the field to 40, 24 and then twelve players, who will carry forward their third-round pinfall total into the first of three three-game rounds which will trim the field to eight and then four players who will determine the champion.

    2013EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 tournaments in 13 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, four Silver and seven Satellite events.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event earn ranking points based on how they finish. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament such as the Dream-Bowl Palace Open gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.

    Points are tabulated throughout the season and the top 12 men and the top 12 women qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the EBT Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.
