The bowling competition of the 20th Central American and Caribbean Sports Games started with the Mixed Doubles event at Tito's Bolo Club - home of the Colombian Bowling Federation - in Barranquilla, Colombia.

60 teams took on the 12 lanes with a challenging dual oil pattern (right lane with long oil and left lane with short oil).

Venezuela's Karen Lugo Diaz and Eddy Fuentes (pictured above) put on a show and stormed to the gold medal averaging 220,58 for their six games with a low game of 401 and a high game of 482. The duo felled 2647 pins. Fuentes posted a 1355-series and Lugo added 1292, the highest individual scores of the day rolled by a man and a woman.

Sasha Luciano and Luis Rodriguez (left) of Puerto Rico took the silver medal with 2570, and an average of 214,17. Luciano had 1286 and Rodriguez nearly matched her score with 1284.

Third place belonged to Mexicans Sandra Gongora and Alejandro Cruz. The duo totaled 2488 pins, 207,33 average, to help grab the bronze medal and beat out team mates Adriana Perez/Daniel Falconi by 16 pins, Dominican Republic's Aumi Guerra/Rolando A. Sebelen by 22 pins and Guatemala's Ximena Soto/Juan C. Morales by 24 pins.
