Sandra Gongora and Adriana Perez (l-r) won the first gold medal for Mexico in the 20th Central American and Caribbean Sports Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, when they captured the title in the Women's Doubles event at Tito's Bolo Club.

The duo felled 2445 pin and averaged 203,75 over six games. Perez led the way with 1256, the second-highest series of the day, and Gongora contributed 1189. However, as the Mexicans finished with two sub-par games (392, 390) the championship was decided in the last frames.

Mixed Doubles champion Karen Lugo and Mariela Alarza of Venezuela posted the highest team game of 501 (Alarza 299) in their penultimate game to narrow the gap and finished with 403 to fall three pins short and to earn the silver medal with 2442 and an average of 203,50. Lugo had 1200, while Alarza added 1242.

A pair of World Ranking Masters champions, 2005 winner Clara Juliana Guerrero and 2006 champ Sara Vargas from Colombia, landed in third place to take the bronze medal for the host country. Guerrero rolled the sole 1300-plus series of the vent with 1311 and Vargas added 1121 for 2432, just 13 pins behind the new champions.

Dominicans Paola Mendez and Paula Vila were the only other team with a 200-average. The duo totaled 2400 to end up in fourth place.
