Pasi Uotila takes the lead and the 1,000 bonus

Pasi Uotila (pictured left) started the second day of the men's World Ranking Masters in second position, 86 pins behind first squad leader Arturo Hernandez from Venezuela. After finishing the second block of eight games, this time on the 43-feet long oil pattern, the Finn found himself 120 pins ahead of the field and pocketed 1,000 Dollar for shooting the day-best 1906-series.
Uotila totaled 3778 pins for 16 games, an average of 236,13, to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Reija Lunden (center), who is in the lead in the women's division. Rounding out the strong Finnish performance were Kimmo Lehtonen (4th/3588, pictured right) and Jouni Helminen (6th/3554).
2-time ABC Tournament champion John Janawicz (pictured) showed the most consistent performance of all 25 competitors. The American rolled games of 220, 215, 223, 226, 231, 214 and 236 before he finished with the second-best game of the day. After the first ten strikes a stubborn 7-pin denied Janawicz' bid for the first 300-game of the tournament. With the 289-game, "JJ" leaped into second place with 3658 or an average of 228,63. Hernandez slipped to third place behind a 1688-series today with 3646 overall.
Rounding out the top 8 were Daniel Lim, Malaysia (5th/3576), Stuart Williams, England (7th/3550) and Ahmed Shaheen, Qatar (8th/3521). The top 8 after tomorrows third and final 8-game block (one lane short, one lane long oil) will advance to the best-of-three-game single elimination finals.
