Reija Lunden is the Short Oil Queen

    Standings after 8 Games

     For the third consecutive year Reija Lunden won the first qualifying round in the women's World Ranking Masters. The Finn shot 677 for the first three games, then added 774 (257-289-228) and closed out the day with 242 and 243 en route to finish with 1936, 8-game total and an average of 242. The 289-game was also the high game of the day. Lunden received the Squad Leader Award of 1,000 Dollar from Kegel CEO John Davis for her efforts (pictured).

    Trailing the "Short Oil Queen" by 95 pins to sit in second place is Helen Johnsson from Sweden with 1841 including high games of 265 and 278. Martina Beckel, whose bowling equipment got lost on her flight from Germany to Orlando rolled 1794, good enough for third place. The former World Champion (1991, Singles) had a high game of 249 and a low game of 196.

    Fourth place belonged to defending champion Diandra Asbaty from the United States. The reigning World Masters Champion posted a high game of 267 en route to check in with 1775. Britt Bröndsted, Denmark, who won the 2003 edition here at the Kegel Bowling Center, is in fifth place with 1765. Next is compatriot Kamilla Kjeldsen with 1753.

     Seventh place belongs to Clara Juliana Guerrero, who is a member of the women's Intercollegiate Bowling Championship winner Wichita State. The Colombian is one pin behind Kjeldsen with 1752. Rounding out the top 8 is 3-time World Champion Zara Glover, England, with 1734.

    Eva Jönsson from Sweden finished with a 280-game to move into 9th place with 1705. The European bowlers hold seven of the top 10 spots, while the American Zone took two. Liza Del Rosario from the Philippines is the top-ranked Asian player in 10th place with 1703 or an average of 212,88.

    The women are done for today and will return on Wednesday for the second block on long oil.

    Three European bowlers in the lead after six games

The Finn rolled 3-game series of 677 and 774 (257-289-228) for 1451, pinfall total or an average of 241,28. With two more games to go, Swede Helen Johnsson is second at 1390. Martina Beckel, whose bowling equipment got lost on her flight from Germany to Orlando sits in third place with 1347. Rounding out the top 5 are Clara Guerrero, Colombia, with 1337 and Kamilla Kjeldsen, Denmark, with 1336.

Asian ranking leader Shalin Zulkifli, Malaysia, suffered a disastrous start with back-to-back 167-games to sit at the bottom of the 25-player standings.
