England's Dominic Barrett powers his way into the qualifying lead in Barcelona

Dominic Barrett of England (pictured left) averaged 247.33 and posted a 1484 series in Squad 10/15 Friday evening at Bowling Pedralbes en route to overtake overall lead in the qualifying of the 34th Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona.
The six-time European Bowling Tour champion and one-time Professional Bowlers Association Tour titlist, who rolled the tournament's sole 300 game thus far in Squad 7, became the second multiple squad winner in this year's tournament. All squad winners earn automatic spots into Sunday's finals.
The 2010 European Bowling Tour point ranking winner had games of 210, 259, 222, 269, 278 and 246 to overtake previous leaders Mats Maggi of Belgium and Ildemaro Ruiz of Venezuela (above right) by 60 pins.

The tournament will be held July 17-22 at 14-lane Bowling Pedralbes in Barcelona, Spain and offers total prize fund of 60.000 Euro with 12.000 Euro going to the winner, 6.000 to the runner-up and 3.000 to the third place finisher.
The tournament features a 41 feet Kegel lane conditioning pattern with 25.85ml volume oil total.
The qualifying in Barcelona (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Tuesday July 17 through Saturday, July 21 with the last qualifying squad 15 scheduled for 9 p.m. CEST. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.
A total of 48 players will advance to the finals on Sunday, July 22 - the top 42 qualifiers including all squad leaders and an additional six women.
Those 48 players, who carry forward 50 per cent of their qualifying total, bowl four games to cut to the top 24, The top 3 players after another four-game block in Round Two qualify for the stepladder finals.
The No. 3 seed bowls No. 2 and the winner takes on No. 1 to determine the champion in one-game matches. The stepladder finals will be broadcasted live on Eurosport 2 on Sunday, July 22 at 6.15 p.m. CEST.
The 2012 European Bowling Tour is made up of 21 events in 16 countries including two Platinum, four Gold, eight Silver and seven Satellite tournaments.
The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event earn ranking points based on how they finish in the event. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament such as the 34th Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.
Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 16 men and top 16 women who will compete in the sixth EBT Masters in Bratislava, Slovakia in Sept. 2013.
