Page and Nelson set the pace in MoRich Over and Under Doubles

Team USA member Rhino Page of Lawrence, Kan., and Warren Nelson of Madera, Calif. (r-l) posted the highest series three-game series of the first day of qualifying in the MoRich Over and Under Doubles Championship on Saturday here at The Orleans bowling center.
Page had games of 226, 223 and 218 (677) and Nelson added 225, 238 and 246 (709) for 1386 pinfall total and an average of 231,00 for three team games. The duo earned two byes for winning squad 3 and guaranteed a minimum of $2,000.
"We're both from Fresno," said Nelson, a PBA Senior player. "The best bowlers in the country are out of the valley." Rhino was the first to ask me to bowl the MoRich Doubles. I nearly cancelled it to bowl on the PBA Senior Tour." (Editor's note: The PBA Senior Northern California Classic, July 2-5, in Brentwood, Calif.). "I did not. You have to honor your commitments. Everything happens for a reason," Nelson added.
"Warren is a very good player from my region," 3-time Team USA member Page stated. Surprisingly we had to learn that representing the United States of America internationally isn't always an advantage. "I'm here in Las Vegas to bowl the Mini-Eliminator and the High Roller. The TAT (True Amateur Tournament) doesn't allow me to bowl because I'm on Team USA."
The second place in the third out of five squads went to international star Tim Mack from Ney Jersey and his partner Terry Leong of Las Vegas. They shot the second-highest series of the day with 1353 en route to advance to the finals and secure a minimum of $1,000.
Steve Calyore, Naples, Fla., and Finland's Osku Palermaa were third with 1319 to cash $800. Qualifying continues on Sunday at 10am and noon with two more squads. The MoRich Doubles finals will take place around 2pm.
All teams that have advanced, except the five squad leaders earning 2 byes, will bowl one game with the top 50% advancing to the next round. Teams keep bowling as long as they continue to beat half the field. In Round 3, the five seeded teams will join the remaining teams, and continue to bowl one-game rounds until the $10,000 MoRich Doubles champion is crowned.
