Swedes dominate Thursday's qualifying at Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open

    Robert Andersson, Rebecka Larsen and Daniel Fransson lead Squads 8-10; Dominik Hergenröder of Germany holds on to the lead; cut for 50th place is 1195 (199.17)

    2013EBT10DanielFransson.jpg2013EBT11DominikHergenroder.jpgSwedes Robert Andersson, Rebecka Larsen and Daniel Fransson led the three squads on Thursday at the 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger en route to move into the top 8 in the overall qualifying standings.

    Fransson (pictured left), who was the top scorer of the day, missed the top spot by mere two pins, to sit in second place with 1414 six-game total and an average of 235.83. He had games of 262, 226, 277, 154, 247 and 248 in the evening Squad 10.

    Two-time European champion Rebecka Larsen (right) led Squad 9 with 1351 including 48 pins handicap, good for eighth place. The top 8 players at the end of the qualifying will receive two byes.

    Daria Kovalova (below right) of Ukraine is the best of 12 women in the 111-player field from 17 countries in third place with 1404.

    2013EBT11DariaKovalova.jpgThe cut moved up by 99 pins on Thursday. Former European champion Jouni Helminen of Finland now holds the 50th and last place to qualify directly to the finals with 1195 or an average of 199.17.

    Qualifying continues Friday, July 26, with Squads 11-14 scheduled for 8 a.m., noon, 4 and 8 p.m. CEST.

    2013EBT11DreamBowlPalaceOpenLogo_small.jpg The 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 11th stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the fourth out of six EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 20-28 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The DBO offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 6.500 Euro going to the winner, 4.500 to the runner-up, and 3.500 and 2.500 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Low to cash is 64th place for 500 Euro.

    The Dream-Bowl Palace Open features a 42 feet Kegel Sport Series Autobahn 2542 lane conditioning pattern with 25.85 ml volume oil total.

    Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Saturday July 20, through Saturday, July 27, with the last qualifying squad 18 scheduled for 8 p.m. CEST. The qualifying winner will receive a 1.000 Euro bonus.

    Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    A total of 64 players including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 6 from Squads 1-7, the top 4 from the Desperado Squad and the top four from a "High-Low" list (lowest and highest game added together; additional 10,-€ per squad) will qualify for the finals on Sunday, July 27. The top 8 qualifiers will receive two byes, while qualifiers 9-16 will bypass the first round of the finals.

    Three four-game rounds each starting from scratch will trim the field to 40, 24 and then twelve players, who will carry forward their third-round pinfall total into the first of three three-game rounds which will trim the field to eight and then four players who will determine the champion.

    2013EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 tournaments in 13 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, four Silver and seven Satellite events.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event earn ranking points based on how they finish. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament such as the Dream-Bowl Palace Open gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.

    Points are tabulated throughout the season and the top 12 men and the top 12 women qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the EBT Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.
