David Grooms from Vancover, WA, won the second Dexter Sweeper during the 13th Annual Mini-Eliminator Wednesday evening at The Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Like Monday's champion Don Fowler, Grooms was the sole player to reach the 500-plateau in two games with 505. The winner received the $3,000 first-place check from Dexter's Carmen Ratti. Philip Schwartz, Tucson, AZ, beat out Mike Rose Jr. by one pin to finish second with 494 and to cash $2,100. Rose settled for third place worth $1,500. Team USA member David Haynes, who led the Dexter Sweeper after the first squad finished fourth with 483 and received $1,255.

Missy Bellinder, Fullerton, Calif., was once again the sole woman who made the cut. After a 17t in the first game, missy started game #2 with a spare and went off the sheet for 290. Her 467 total was good for 10th place worth $750.

Among the cashers were 2005 U.S. National Amateur champion Rhino Page, Mexican international and American Zone champion Daniel Falconi from Mexico, former Team USA member and ABC Team champion Jeremy Sonnenfeld, the first player who rolled an approved 900-series, U.S. junior internationals PJ Haggerty and Erik Vermilyea, who cashed in both squads, and Finnish international Osku Palermaa.

Mexico's Mario Quintero was the last player to cash in 27th position to double his $200 entry fee.

Dexter Shoes sponsored two nightly sweepers on Monday and Wednesday. Each Sweeper featured two-game qualifying and no finals. One in 5 bowlers cashed with last place paying 'double your money ($400)'. Scores from both squads were combined to determine the nightly prize list. Players could bowl both squads and cash on each entry but only once for a prize of $1,000 or more. Sweepers were for Mini-Eliminator bowlers only.
