The race for Mini-Eliminator finals is heating up at The Orleans

98 players took on the lanes at The Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas for the 10th qualifying squad on Thursday morning to earn spots for the divisional finals in the 13th Annual Mini-Eliminator megabuck tournament.
Lennie Boresch, Kenosha, WI, rolled a 744 three game series to lead the Open Division. Boresch earned one bye as the squad leader (worth $1,000) but may get even more as his score is the highest for the Open Division thus far.
The Daily Leader gets two byes ($1,500) and the highest division series at the end of the qualifying even gets 3 byes ($2,000). Markwin Tee, Manila, Philippines, was second in this division and advanced to the finals on Sunday.
Zara Glover (l.) from England, a 3-time World Champion, missed the squad lead in the 35 and under Division by 6 pins. Glover, who is already qualified for the finals, received a free re-entry. Leading the squad was Chris Hester, Louisville, KY, with 657.
Other squad leaders were Craig Auerbach (right, 702), Sunrise, FL, in the 36 to 49 Division, Gary Emerson (657), Las Vegas, NV, in the 50 and over Division and David Catalanello (650), Stickney, IL, in the 205 Average and under Division.
Qualifying continues with two more squads at noon and 2pm. After that the second Lane #1 Match Play Shootout will take place at The Orleans Bowling Center.
