Roberts jumps to the top in 50 and over Division

Ed Roberts of Braintree, Mass., rolled a huge 735 three-game series in the third qualifying squad on Thursday - 12th squad overall - to shoot into the lead in the 50 and over Division. Roberts received 2 byes for the finals on Sunday afternoon as the division Daily Leader and is guaranteed minimum of $1,500, but he will earn even three byes or $2,000 if his score will be the highest division series at the end of qualifying.
Also receiving two byes was Jeff Lucas, Raymore, Mo., who shot 692 to beat out Chris Hester and Jay Futrell for the daily lead in the 35 and under Division.
The three other Division Daily leaders came from the 10am squad, Craig Auerbach (left, 702 in the 36 to 49 Division), David Catalanello (right, 650 in the 205 and under Division) and Lennie Boresch (744 in the Open Division).
The squad leaders in these division in the 2pm squad today were Kenneth Lawson, Deltona, FL, 637 (36-49), Luis Fucuy, Sierra Vista, AZ, 604 (205 under) and Mario Quintero, Mexico, 673 (Open).
The sixth day of the Mini-Eliminator week will conclude with the second Lane #1 Match Play Shootout. The shootout will feature a single game elimination match play format with no re-entry.
If you win your first two matches you double your money and win $400! Win 3 matches and triple your money ($600). Every time you win a match you earn more money! With a sellout of 280 entries top prize is $5,000! The cashing ratio for each shootout is at least 1 in 4 bowlers with every casher guaranteed to double their money.
Mini-Eliminator qualifying will continue on Friday with three more squads at 10am, noon and 2pm.
