Andrew Graff, Las Vegas, NV, who was already qualified for the Mini-Eliminator finals since the fifth qualifying squad used a re-entry in the 19th squad on Saturday 4pm to become the Division Daily Leader and to earn two byes for the finals worth $1.500.
Mike Faliero, W Seneca, NY, also used a re-entry to post a big 706-series in the 36 to 49 Division but fell to Steve Wright, Cypress, Texas, who shot 721 in the 2pm squad to earn the two byes.
Two more players from this Squad, Ole Johnni Lislien (205 and under) from Norway and two-time U.S. National Amateur champion Bill Hoffman (Open), Columbus, Ohio, won their respective divisions.
Amy Stratton (left), San Marcos, Calif., led the 205 and under Division with 622, while Randy Russell (right), Monroe, GA, earned the bye in the Open Division in third place with 603 as Chip Collins, Fayetteville, NC (663) and Erik Ramos, Winter Springs, Fla. (628) were already qualified.
Gary Kinyon, Lockport, NY, who had 664 in the morning squad finished as the Division Daily Leader in the 50 and over Division. Larry Hoffman, Fountain Hills, AZ, ld the squad with 659. There was no high score in the second squad.
Qualifying for the finals for the 13th Annual Mini-Eliminator will end on Sunday with the last three of 22 squads at 10am, 2pm and 4pm.
However, the day isn't over yet at The Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. At 7:30pm the 65 players, who advanced through Thursday's qualifying will take on the lanes for the Brunswick Shootout finals. All finalists, who earn a minimum of $250, except the Division Qualifying Leaders (2 byes), will bowl a one game match within their division. Round One matches will be determined by the qualifying series.
The winners keep on advancing and earning more money. The Division Qualifying Leaders will enter the finals in Round 3 and bowl the lowest seeded remaining bowler in their division. After 4 Rounds one bowler will be left in each of the five divisions. These final five bowlers, which are guaranteed no less than $2,000, will bowl in a one-game shootout match for total $14,750.
