Swede Markus Jansson averages 223 to shoot into the lead in Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open

    International bowler takes control of the leaderboard as six players from Sweden, USA, England, Ireland, Denmark and Finland overtake previous leader Dirk Dreyer (GER); score to make the cut in 50th place is 1153 (192.17 average)

    2015EBT12MarkusJansson.jpgMarkus Jansson (pictured left) of Sweden won two of the three squads on Thursday at the 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger and moved to the top of the qualifying leaderboard with 1338 total and an average of 223.00.

    After leading Squad 10 with 1220, the World Youth Champion in Doubles (2014 in Hong Kong) and son of Swedish standout Raymond Jansson repeated in Squad 11 behind games of 242, 236, 247, 210, 202 and 201. Jansson received a 350 Euro bonus for each win.

    The international bowler took control of the 18-nation field in Squads 11 and 12 as six players moved to the top of the 118-player leaderboard.

    Paul Moor (right) of England, who owns record 16 EBT titles, was one pin behind Kent on 1316 after closing his set with 268, 244 and 256. The lefty pocketed a 260 Euro bonus for winning Squad 12.

    2015EBT11ChristopherSloan.jpgMoor's feat came at the expense of Irish two-hander Chris Sloan, who finished five pins behind with 1311, good for fourth place overall. Mik Stampe of Denmark and Mika Koivuniemi of Finland leaped into fifth and sixth place with 1302 and 1297, respectively.

    2015EBT11DirkDreyer.jpgPrevious leader Dirk Dreyer (right) of Germany fell six spots to seventh place with 1282. Maxime de Rooij, Germany, is still the best of 13 women in the field in 20th place with 1221, including eight pins handicap each game.

    Daniel Hellmich, Germany, is the man "on the bubble" in 50th place with 1153 or an average of 192.17.

    Qualifying continues Friday, July 24, with Squads 13-16 scheduled to start at 8 a.m., noon, 4 and 8 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST).

    2015TrackDBPOpenLogo_small.jpg The 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 12th stop of the 2015 European Bowling Tour season and the second of three EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 18-26 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The Track DBP Open offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 7.000 Euro going to the winner, 5.000 to the runner-up, and 3.000 and 2.000 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Final cash spot is 64th place to pay 600 Euro.

    The tournament features a 40-feet lane conditioning pattern with 25.92 ml volume oil total.

    Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Saturday July 18, through Saturday, July 25, with the last qualifying squad 20 scheduled for 8 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST).

    The winner of squad 1-9 each receive a 200 bonus, squad 10-16 winners get 350 Euro and the winners of squad 17-20 earn 500 Euro.

    Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game (maximum is 300) throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    Total 64 players will advance to the finals on Sunday, July 26, including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus top 2 of Squads 8 & 9, top 4 of Squads 1-7, top 4 from the Desperado Squad and top four from a "High-Low" list (two-game total of lowest and highest game; additional 10 Euro per squad).

    The top 8 qualifiers earn two byes moving them into the Round of 16, while qualifiers 9-16 receive a first-round bye having to compete in the Round of 28.

    The finals will kick off with three four-game rounds, each beginning from scratch, which will trim the field to 36, 16 and then four players. Those four will carry over their pinfall total into the eliminator-format finals featuring three one-game rounds.

    All four players bowl the opening game, with the lowest-scoring player after five games being eliminated. In the two rounds to follow, the same "low man out" format applies. The last man standing will be declared the champion.

    2015EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2015 European Bowling Tour currently consists of 17 tournaments in 13 countries featuring three "Platinum" events, three "Gold", three "Silver" and eight "Satellite" events. All 17 tournaments together offer total prize fund of 870.000 Euro or 961.500 U.S. Dollar.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 12 men and top 12 women, who will compete in the 9th EBT Masters July 25, 2016 at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino following the 12th San Marino Open.

    Top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus top 2 of Squads 8 & 9, top 4 of Squads 1-7, top 4 from the Desperado Squad and top four from a "High-Low" list will advance to the finals.

    Tie Rules (Qualifying)
    In case of a tie in the qualifying, "the highest positioned player will be the player scoring the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the lowest game. If a tie still exists, the highest positioned player will be the player with the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the two lowest games, etc."
