Team USA's Doyle, Pluhowsky head to QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Las Vegas

Rising star Kamron Doyle (pictured left) of Brentwood, Tennessee, will make his Team USA debut, while Shannon Pluhowsky of Dayton, Ohio, looks for a record-breaking performance starting Sunday at the 51st QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup.
Doyle, a 17-year-old high school student, and Pluhowsky, who will be looking to win the event for a record third time, will head to the Sam's Town Bowling Center in Las Vegas for the World Cup.
The World Cup is considered one of the sport's most prestigious singles titles and will draw bowlers from 87 countries, making it the largest event in the sport in terms of number of countries competing.
"Representing Junior Team USA the past several years has been a dream come true, but to be able to do it on a bigger stage for Team USA will be something truly special," said Doyle, a four-time Junior Team USA member. "Being only 17 and competing for the best team in the world will be something I will never forget."
Pluhowsky (pictured right) won the World Cup in 2002 and 2004, while also finishing runner-up in 2003. In her most recent appearance at the World Cup, Pluhowsky finished sixth in 2008.
"I'm excited to go back to the World Cup," Pluhowsky said. "It was one of my first international tournaments and I have met a lot of friends from other countries there. I've always liked the format because it gives you time to figure out the pattern and how to attack it."
The World Cup features a long qualifying format as all players bowl three eight-game blocks over three days. The field is then cut to the top 24 men and top 24 women for eight additional games to determine the top eight for round-robin match play. After match play, the top three men and top three women advance to the stepladder finals.
Doyle and Pluhowsky earned the right to compete in the World Cup by winning the 2015 United States Bowling Congress Team USA Trials in January.
