Four bowlers earn 2014 Team USA spots at Summer Team USA Trials

Vermilyea, Dorin-Ballard on top after day two at Summer Team USA Trials

Vermilyea (l.) moved into the top spot on the men's side after Saturday's second round with a nine-game total of 2,100 (233.3 average), while Dorin-Ballard (r.) leads the women's field by a wide margin with 2,079 (231 average) at the International Training and Research Center.

Pepe (l.) led the men's field with a three-game total of 742, while Dorin-Ballard (r.) topped the women with 740 on the short pattern Stockholm at the ITRC. The top two men and top two women after 15 games will earn automatic spots on Team USA for 2014.

Four Team USA spots up for grabs this weekend at Summer Team USA Trials

Location, dates announced for January Team USA Trials

TeamUSALogo_small.jpgTwo men's and two women's spots on Team USA in 2014 will be up for grabs this weekend when an elite squad of athletes compete in the USBC Summer Team USA Trials. The International Training and Research Center will host the competition, which begins Friday at 4:30 p.m. Eastern live on BOWL.com's BowlTV. The Trials will feature three days of competition. The spots will be given to the top two after 15 total games in each division.

Team USA will conduct additional Summer Team Trials at ITRC

2013TeamUSATrialsLogo_small.jpgIn order to give players an additional way to earn spots on Team USA in 2014, the USBC will conduct the inaugural Summer Team USA Trials this July. The limited-entry event will award two men's and two women's spots on Team USA in 2014 and will be conducted at the International Training and Research Center, which is the home of Team USA, from July 5-7, 2013. As a result of the additional Team USA spots, the Team USA roster will have 12 men and 12 women for 2014.

John Szczerbinski, Danielle McEwan take Team USA Trials titles

Earn automatic spots on Team USA and will represent the United States at the 2013 QubicaAMF World Cup

Szczerbinski held on in a tight championship match, defeating defending champion Marshall Kent of Yakima, Wash., 218-211, while McEwan successfully defended her title with a 267-194 win over Diandra Asbaty of Chicago.

Asbaty, Szczerbinski lead headed to final day at Team USA Trials

Szczerbinski has a solid lead on the men's field with 27 points, while Asbaty has also tallied 27 points to top the women's division after the fourth round Sunday at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in Henderson, Nev. in suburban Las Vegas.

McEwan leads the women's division with 16 points, while Szczerbinski is on top of the men's field with 24 points after Saturday's third round at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center. The fourth round will be contested on the 38-foot Atlanta pattern on Sunday.

Janawicz, McEwan move into lead at Team USA Trials

McEwan leads the women's field with 14 points, while Janawicz leads the men's division with 17 points at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center. Mikey Preston of Oswego, Ill., also has 17 points but Janawicz holds the tiebreaker, which is total pinfall.

(r-l), took the lead Thursday after the opening round of the 2013 United States Bowling Congress Team USA Trials at Strike Zone Bowling Center in Henderson, Nev. Szczerbinski (1,516; 252.67 average)and Frahm (1,376; 229.33 average) each earned one point for their first-place finishes in the first round at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center, topping a field of 171 men and 85 women.

The pair said the opportunity allowed them to gain more knowledge and improve their games. That knowledge and skill once again will be put to the test next week when they attempt to successfully defend their titles at the 2013 USBC Team USA Trials.

The event allows any USBC member the chance to earn a spot on Team USA with spots also available on Junior Team USA. The early entry deadline closes on Dec. 14 with players entering on or before that date paying $350. The Team USA Trials will take place at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in Henderson, Nev.
