Puerto Rico sweeps gold medals in Sub-16 Team and All Events at PABCON Youth Championships

The Under-16 Mixed Foursome team from Puerto Rico captured the gold medal in the Team event in the PABCON Youth Championships Friday at Sport Complex Salitre in Bogota, Colombia.
Kristie Lopez, Valerie Bermudez, Cristian Azcona and Josh Lee Encarnacion had games of 811, 777 and 796 or a total of 2384 on Day Two to leap one spot and to win the title with 4613 six-game total and an average of 192.21.
Lopez and Azcona led the team with 1223 and 1240 six-game total en route to win the girls and boys All Events title. Encarnacion had 1135 and Bermudez contributed 1015.
Colombia with Juliana Franco, Maria Arevalo, Juan Lopez and Santiago Garcia leaped from third to second place behind a 2259 series to earn the silver medal with 4420 (184.17).
Guatemala's Pamela Monzon, Karol Ayapan, Juan Castillo and Jose Morales, who led the field of four countries after the first 3-game block with 2250, had a 2147 second block to slip to third place with 4397 (183.21).
Aruba's Abigail Dammers, Kamilah Dammers, Kevin Evertsz and Bryan Helmeyer landed in fourth place with 4113 (171.38).
Kristie Lopez led the girls All Events (combined results of Singles, Mixed Doubles, Doubles and Mixed Foursome) with 4115 21-game total and an average of 195.95. Juliana Franco was 115 pins behind to get silver with 4000 (190.48). Bronze went to Kamilah Dammers, Aruba, with 3743 (178.24.
Cristian Azcona averaged 196.95 and felled 4136 pins to easily win the boys All Events title. Jose Morales and Juan Castillo, both Guatemala, took silver and bronze with 3990 and 3883, respectively.
The top 8 players in the final All Events standings advanced to the Masters.
