     Qualifying leader Petri Mannonen of Finland defeated his compatriot Jouni Helminen, 2-1, in a close match in Round of 16 in the Columbia 300 Vienna Open. Five of the eight matches in best-of-three games format went the distance, while Finns Jussi Lindgren and Osku Palermaa and Swede Anders Öhman swept their opponents. The remaining two women, Tanya Petty (pictured) of Germany and Mai Ginge Jensen were both eliminated. Due to her her position in the qualifying, Petty won the women's rankings in Vienna.
