David Haynes shoots big scores in the Quarterfinals

     David Haynes rolled his second 800-plus series in the Columbia 300 Vienna Open to lead the top 24 bowlers of the quarterfinals into the next round. The Team USA member rolled games of 255, 201, 246 (702), 279, 290 and 239 (808) to finish with 1510-pinfall total or an average of 251,67. Haynes' had a 801-series last night but could not improve his qualifying total to earn a bye.

    For women made the cut to the semifinals, Kamilla Kjeldsen of Denmark (8th), Piritta Kantola of Finland (10th), Tanya Petty of Germany (15th) and another Dane Mai Ginge Jensen, who struck out in her final frame to end up 22nd with 1250. The score to advance was 1245, or a 207,50 average.

    The top 24 from the quarterfinal and players seeded 9-16 after qualifying will be divided into eight groups with four players each based on the average after qualifying. Each group will bowl two games. The player with the lowest 2-game total will be eliminated.

    The 3 remaining players in each group will bowl another two games. The player with lowest total after those 4 games will be eliminated.

    The remaining two players in each group bowl another 2 games. The player with the lowest 6-game total will be eliminated and the remaining eight group winners will advance to the single elimination finals.
