Tony Ranta, Lisa Kabowski move into the top 52 in the penultimate qualifying squad

    51st place Alex Liew and 52 place Jesse Kallio leap significantly higher; cut for 52nd place is now 1392 (232 average)

    Ranta, who won the H.H. Emir's Cup 2013 earlier this month in Qatar, started a remarkably consistent series with 243 followed five games between 231 and 238 to jump from 113th to 22nd place.

    Lisa Kabowski (right) of Germany finished her series with 268 for 1357 scratch and added 48 pins women's handicap for 1405 total to rocket from 158th to 35 place. Kabowski is currently the lone woman of the host country in the top 52.

Kallio, who was "on the bubble" with 1389 toppled 1404 pins to move into 37th place. Liew improved his 1390 series by eight pins to leap twelve spots to 43rd place.

    The other 100 players in the second consecutive fully booked spot at Europe's biggest bowling center, 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany, failed to improve their high series or missed the cut once again.

    With the final Squad 15 to go, Lars Tangermann of Germany, Dane Thomas Larsen and Siti Safiyah Amirah (right) of Malaysia sit in 50th, 51st and 52nd place with 1392 total or an average of 232 scratch.

    Qualifying concludes with the one-game Desperado Squad slated for 11.30 p.m. Central European Time.

    2013BECLogo.jpg The Brunswick Euro Challenge is the fourth tournament on the 2013 European Bowling Tour schedule and one of only two "Platinum" events this season, the EBT's highest tournament category. The BEC is also the seventh stop of the World Bowling Tour and the second of three WBT events in Europe in 2013.

    For the first time in 10 years of BEC competition, Europe's richest tournament will be contested at Europe's biggest bowling center, 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The 106.000 Euro tournament, which runs from March 19-24, offers a 15.000 Euro top prize and a PBA International title if won by a PBA member.

    At the end of the qualifying, the top 52 plus the top eight players from a separate leader board of the squads on March 19 & 20 (places 53-60) and the top four of the Desperado Squad (places 61-64) will advance to the finals. The top 12 qualifiers will receive one bye.
