Dominic Barrett, Karsten Aust move into the top 12 in 10th qualifying squad

    PBA's Chris Loschetter remains in the lead with 1505; cut for 52nd place is 1367 (227.83)

    2013EBT04DominicBarrett.jpg2013EBT04KarstenAust.jpgDominic Barrett (pictured left) of England and Karsten Aust (right), Germany, set the tone in the 10th qualifying squad of the 10th Brunswick Euro Challenge Friday evening at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany, en route to move into the top 12 in the overall qualifying standings.

    The duo was tied after six games at 1449, a 241.50 average. Reigning European Bowling Tour point ranking leader Barrett won the squad and moved into 9th place due to the higher last game, 251 to 246. Aust overtook 10th place. The top 12 at the end of qualifying will earn one bye for the finals.

If Loschetter wins the Brunswick Euro Challenge, he will be awarded his first career PBA title.

    The two-time European Bowling Tour champion is followed by three-time titlist Dennis Eklund of Sweden in second place with 1497. Third place belonged to Joonas Jehkinen (right) of Finland, and England's Richard Teece 1470 and 1469, respectively.

Belgium's Mats Maggi used high games of 269, 259 and 258 for 1413 total to overtake 20th place.

    Two-time European champion Joline Persson Planefors (right) was the best woman in Squad 10 with 1412 including 48 pins handicap to leap into 22nd place, while Women's World Championships All Event champion Mai Ginge Jensen of Denmark took 25th place with 1403 total.

Kallio finished with back-to-back 255 games to land in 38th place with 1389. Teece had three consecutive 250-plus games in his 1385 series, good for 39th place overall.

    Multiple European Champion Petteri Salonen (right) slipped to 52d and last place to advance with 1367 or an average of 227.83.

    Qualifying continues Friday, March 22, with Squad 11 re-scheduled for 10.30 p.m. Central European Time.

    2013BECLogo.jpg The Brunswick Euro Challenge is the fourth tournament on the 2013 European Bowling Tour schedule and one of only two "Platinum" events this season, the EBT's highest tournament category. The BEC is also the seventh stop of the World Bowling Tour and the second of three WBT events in Europe in 2013.

    For the first time in 10 years of BEC competition, Europe's richest tournament will be contested at Europe's biggest bowling center, 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The 106.000 Euro tournament, which runs from March 19-24, offers a 15.000 Euro top prize and a PBA International title if won by a PBA member.

    2013 Brunswick Euro Challenge - Standings after Squad 10/15


    At the end of the qualifying, the top 52 plus the top eight players from a separate leader board of the squads on March 19 & 20 (places 53-60) and the top four of the Desperado Squad (places 61-64) will advance to the finals. The top 12 qualifiers will receive one bye.
