Chris Sloan wins qualifying at Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open; leads 64 players into finals

Chris Sloan (pictured left) of Ireland rolled a 1439 series in the 18th of 20 qualifying squads Saturday at Dream-Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany, en route to win the qualifying at the 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger. All four squad leaders on the final qualifying day earned a 500 Euro bonus.
Sloan used games of 223, 203, 227, 228, 289 and 269, an average of 239.83, to overtake previous leader Thomas Larsen of Denmark of Denmark by 31 pins. Larsen finished in second place with 1408 and was followed by Marshall Kent, United States, and Joonas Jehkinen of Finland in third and fourth place with 1375 and 1365, respectively.
Rounding out the top 8, who received two byes, were Stuart Williams (1355), England; Pontus Andersson, Sweden (1339); Markus Jansson, Sweden (1338); and Dom Barrett (1334), England.

Just outside the top 16 was the best woman in the field, Rebecka Larsen of Sweden in 17th place with 1293 including handicap. Former European Bowling Tour women's point ranking leader Birgit Pöppler, Germany, led the last qualifying squad with 1280 to make the first cut in 24th place.
Tommie McNeal (right), United States, hit the cutoff number for 50th place with 1233 and an average of 205.50. The top 50 will be joined in Sunday's finals by another 14 players.
The 6th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 12th stop of the 2015 European Bowling Tour season and the second of three EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 18-26 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.
The Track DBP Open offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 7.000 Euro going to the winner, 5.000 to the runner-up, and 3.000 and 2.000 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Final cash spot is 64th place to pay 600 Euro.
The tournament features a 40-feet lane conditioning pattern with 25.92 ml volume oil total.
Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) ran from July 18-25. The winner of squad 1-9 each received a 200 bonus, squad 10-16 winners got 350 Euro and the winners of squad 17-20 earned 500 Euro.
Women receive 8 pins handicap each game (maximum is 300) throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.
Total 64 players advanced to the finals on Sunday, July 26, including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus top 2 of Squads 8 & 9, top 4 of Squads 1-7, top 4 from the Desperado Squad and top four from a "High-Low" list (two-game total of lowest and highest game; additional 10 Euro per squad).

All four players bowl the opening game, with the lowest-scoring player after five games being eliminated. In the two rounds to follow, the same "low man out" format applies. The last man standing will be declared the champion.
The 2015 European Bowling Tour currently consists of 17 tournaments in 13 countries featuring three "Platinum" events, three "Gold", three "Silver" and eight "Satellite" events. All 17 tournaments together offer total prize fund of 870.000 Euro or 961.500 U.S. Dollar.
The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 12 men and top 12 women, who will compete in the 9th EBT Masters July 25, 2016 at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino following the 12th San Marino Open.

Tie Rules (Qualifying)
In case of a tie in the qualifying, "the highest positioned player will be the player scoring the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the lowest game. If a tie still exists, the highest positioned player will be the player with the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the two lowest games, etc."

Tie Rules (Qualifying)
In case of a tie in the qualifying, "the highest positioned player will be the player scoring the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the lowest game. If a tie still exists, the highest positioned player will be the player with the highest total of all counting qualification games minus the score of the two lowest games, etc."
