Ljung shoots 277 and 255 to advance to Round of 8

     6-time PBA titlist Ryan Shafer shot games of 257 and 254 and went out of the tournament, 2-0 in the Super 16 Round here at Bowling Center Viernheim. Swede Peter Ljung swept his third consecutive opponent thanks to a 277 in game one and a 255 in game two.

    Qualifying leader Jason Belmonte easily won his match against Hagen Pest in a high and low scoring affair, 276-171 and 179-149. Paul Moor booked his spot in the Round of 8 when he eliminated Pasi Uotila in two games.

    Five matches went the distance and were decided in the third game. Michael Fagan eliminated fellow PBAer Doug Kent, 212-202. Robert Wölki flew past No. 2 seed Toni Laine, 246-196. Michael Braendeskov beat David Canady, 200-189. Jesper Agerbo defeated Nick Froggatt, 236-183.

    PBA exempt player Tore Torgersen won the first game against Pete Weber, 234-181. The Norwegian then dropped the 2nd game, 216-208, before taking the deciding contest, 226-189.
