Hansi Glasl shoots 300 to win the qualifying of the 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open

    German uses lone perfecto in the qualifying for 1475 series (245.83 average); leaders of the last three squads finish 1-3; cut for 50th place is 1314 (219 average)

    2013EBT11HansGlasl.jpg2013EBT05PeterHellstrom.jpgLocal bowler Hansi Glasl (pictured left) put together a 1475 series Saturday at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring/Munich, Germany en route to win the qualifying of the 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger, a European Bowling Tour "gold" tournament.

    Glasl, who led the tournament after the first squad with 1392, followed a 213 opening game in the penultimate Squad 17 with twelve consecutive strikes for the lone 300 game of the tournament so far. Glasl closed out the series with 210, 241, 266 and 245, an average of 245.83 for six games.

    In the last squad, Peter Hellström (above right) of Sweden made a run for the lead but fell four pins short with 1471. The two-time European Bowling Tour champion who had high games of 269, 268 and 256 settled for second place.

    2013EBT10ThomasLarsen.jpg2013EBT11DariaKovalova.jpgThomas Larsen (left) of Denmark, who overtook the lead in Squad 16, finished the day in third place with 1427. Previous leader Dominik Hergenröder of Germany fell to fourth place with 1415.

    The top eight players received two byes for Sunday's finals, while qualifiers 9-16 got one bye. Bjørn Einar Rudshagen of Norway took eighth place with 1405 (234.17) and native Austrian Michael Grabovac took 16th place with 1380 (230.00).

    European Champions Cup winner Daria Kovalova (right) of Ukraine was the best of 24 women in the 183-player field from 22 countries in 10th place with 1404 including 48 pins handicap. Eleven women survived the first cut.

    2013EBT11RobertAndersson.jpgChrister Petersen of Sweden, who led the morning squad 15 with 1376, missed a bye by four pins to land in 17th place. However, Petersen received a 600 Euro for leading this squad, the highest bonus of five squads who offered a bonus to the leader.

    Earning a 500 Euro bonus each were Glasl (Squad 1; 1392), Kovalova (Squad 3; 1404); Robert Andersson (left) of Sweden (Squad 8; 1395) and Larsen (Squad 11; 1314).

    Xavier Milet of Belgium and Holger Braun of Germany took the last two spots to qualify directly to the finals (top 50) 1314 or an average of 219.

    Those 50 will be joined in the finals by another 14 players, who qualified through extra leader boards and the Desperado Squad.

    2013EBT11DreamBowlPalaceOpenLogo_small.jpg The 4th Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open by Erdinger is the 11th stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the fourth out of six EBT "Gold" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held July 20-28 at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The DBO offers total prize fund of 70.000 Euro with 6.500 Euro going to the winner, 4.500 to the runner-up, and 3.500 and 2.500 Euro to the third and fourth place finisher, respectively. Low to cash is 64th place for 500 Euro.

    The Dream-Bowl Palace Open features a 42 feet Kegel Sport Series Autobahn 2542 lane conditioning pattern with 25.85 ml volume oil total.

    Qualifying (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) ran from Saturday July 20, through Saturday, July 27. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire tournament, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    A total of 64 players including the top 50 from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 6 from Squads 1-7, the top 4 from the Desperado Squad and the top four from a "High-Low" list (lowest and highest game added together; additional 10,-€ per squad) qualified for the finals on Sunday, July 27. The top 8 qualifiers received two byes, while qualifiers 9-16 bypass the first round of the finals.

    Three four-game rounds each starting from scratch will trim the field to 40, 24 and then twelve players, who will carry forward their third-round pinfall total into the first of three three-game rounds which will trim the field to eight and then four players who will determine the champion.

    2013EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 tournaments in 13 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, four Silver and seven Satellite events.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event earn ranking points based on how they finish. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament such as the Dream-Bowl Palace Open gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.

    Points are tabulated throughout the season and the top 12 men and the top 12 women qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the EBT Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.
