Parker Bohn III averages 260 to lead Round of 64 in Brunswick Euro Challenge finals

    PBA Hall of Famer leads top 16 players into second round clash with the top 12 qualifiers; lefthanders dominate in Round of 64; Finland's Osku Palermaa shoots the eighth 300 game of the tournament

    ImageParker Bohn III (pictured left), United States, averaged 260.50 Sunday morning at 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany, en route to lead the Round of 64 in the finals of the 10th Brunswick Euro Challenge.

    The PBA super star, who won the PBA World Championship last November for his 33rd career title, started the day with games of 259, 236 and 234 before he closed things out with 266, 289 and 279 (834 for the last three games) for 1563 total.

    The PBA and USBC Hall of Famer leads the top 16 players into a second round clash with the top 12 qualifiers, who bypassed the first round of the finals.

    2013EBT04PaulMoor2.jpg2013EBT04AnzeGrabrijan.jpgFour left-handed bowlers finished atop the leaderboard in the Round of 64. Trailing Bohn by 51 pins was three-time European Bowling Tour point ranking leader, Paul Moor (left) of England, who was second with 1512 (252 avg.).

    Third place belonged Anže Grabrijan (right) of Slovenia with 1459 (243.17). Grabrijan won his first EBT title last month in the 7th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer.

    Rounding out the top 4 was four-time EBT point ranking leader Gery Verbruggen of Belgium, who used four games in the 250s for 1454 (242.33.)

    Tan was followed by PBA Touring Pro Ronnie Russell in sixth place with 1438 and Finland's Petteri Salonen (1421) and three-time PBA champion Osku Palermaa (right; 1420), who the eighth 300 game of the tournament in game four.

    Eight lefties and eight right-handers advanced to the second round including three women.

    2013BECLogo.jpg The Brunswick Euro Challenge is the fourth tournament on the 2013 European Bowling Tour schedule and one of only two "Platinum" events this season, the EBT's highest tournament category. The BEC is also the seventh stop of the World Bowling Tour and the second of three WBT events in Europe in 2013.

    For the first time in 10 years of BEC competition, Europe's richest tournament will be contested at Europe's biggest bowling center, 52-lane Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany.

    The 106.000 Euro tournament, which runs from March 19-24, offers a 15.000 Euro top prize and a PBA International title if won by a PBA member.
