Liza Del Rosario maintains 228 average after three rounds in women's World Cup

    Filipina holds on the lead as the 36 women of Squad a have completed 15/20 qualifying games; Russia's Maria Bulanova paces third block with 1147 (229.40 average); average to make the cut in 24th place is currently 196.10

    2014BWCLizaDelRosario2.jpg2014BWCRebeckaLarsen.jpgLiza Del Rosario (pictured left) of the Philippines averaged 225.20 in the third qualifying block of Squad A at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland to easily maintain her lead in the women's division of the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup.

    The former world champion (Trios, 2003) rebounded from a sub-par start (194) with games of 258, 229, 232 and 213 for an 1126 series and 3430 15-game total, an overall average of 228.67.

    2014BWCMartinaSchutz2.jpg2014BWCSandraGongora2.jpgHer nearest rivals from B Squad, Team USA's Brittni Hamilton (228 average), two-time European champion Rebecka Larsen (above right) of Sweden (226.90) and two-time world champion Clara Juliana Guerrero of Colombia (222.90) need to improve their overall averages this afternoon to overtake the Filipina.

    Seven more players of Squad A surpassed the 1300-mark in Round 3. Martina SchĂĽtz (left) of Germany closed out her set with a big 258 game and 1119 to sit in second place with 3302 (220.13) trailing Del Rosario by 128 pins.

    Sin Li Jane of Malaysia leaped into fourth place behind an 1132 series today including five games between 205 and 249. Li Jane has totaled 3244 (216.27).

    Two-time World Cup champion Aumi Guerra (left; 2010 & 2011) of the Dominican Republic finished with 273 for 1119 and 3235 total (215.67).

    Amanda Larkin slipped three spots to seventh with 3205 (213.67) behind a 1046 series. Two-time World Cup champion and defending champion Caroline Lagrange (left; 2009 & 2013) used three games in the 240s for 1131 to leap into eighth place with 3135 (209.00).

    Lagrange overtook last year's runner-up Cherie Tan of Singapore by 27 pins. Tan sits in ninth place with 3108 (207.20) followed by Maria Tkachenko of Latvia with 3103 (206.87) and Sue Abela (right) of Malta, who used an 1113 series for 3073 (204.87).

    Sarit Mizrachi of Israel holds the 24th and last place to advance on the overall average list with 196.10 but has yet to bowl her third block. The women of Squad B will complete the third round starting at 5.30 p.m. CET.

    Live coverage and live streaming commences on Tuesday, November 4th, with the first round of qualifying and concludes on Sunday 9th with the stepladder finals.

    2014BWCLogo.jpg The preliminaries consist of four blocks of five games with the top 24 men and the top 24 women after 20 games advancing to the intermediate round. Those 24 players bowl further 8 games with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 28 games will bowl a further seven games round robin match play plus one game position round (total 8 games) with 30 pins bonus per win and 15 for a tie.

    The top 3 men and the top 3 women after 36 games including bonus pins will determine the champions in the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format.
