Joonas Jähi of Finland defeated Paul Moor, England, in the championship match of the Kungsbacka International, 264-194, en route to win the last title of the 2005 European Bowling Tour season. Jähi, who denied Moor's bid for his fourth EBT title in 2005, earned 10.000 Euro. Moor (pictured), who pocketed 4.500 Euro, defended his title as European men's ranking champion as did Dane Britt Bröndsted in the women's division. Kai Virtanen, Finland, and Robert Andersson, Sweden, who were eliminated in the semifinals finished in third and fourth place, worth 2.000 Euro.
Stuart Williams defeated Lee Chatfield (right) two-games-to-none in the best-of-three games finals to win the PTBC Legends Challenge, the second event of the Brunswick Team England rankings, at The Bowl in Bromborough, England. As the ranking points were given based on the standings after the 7-game prelims, men's and women's qualifying leaders Nick Froggatt and Fiona Banks received the maximum ranking points. 
As the second stop of the 2006 European Bowling Tour, Irish Open Championships, was a "regular" tournament and awarded half of the ranking points of a "major" tournament, Lasse Lintilä of Finland and Patricia Schwarz of Germany, who won the Ballmaster Open (major), remained unchallenged atop of the European Rankings. 
Svein Roger Olsen of Norway and Laura Rhoney, Scotland, came from behind to win the men's and women's titles in the Irish Open Championships Leisureplex Stillorgan in Dublin, Ireland. Olsen, seeded fourth, won three consecutive matches including a 265-216 victory in the title match against defending champion Paul Moor. Rhoney defeated No. 1 seeded Kamilla Kjeldsen, Denmark, in the women's championship match, 197-191. 
Ulf Arnesen from Norway and English ranking leader Donna Adams won the titles in the men's and women's Open Division in the 7th ALSAA Re-entry Open Singles 2006 at ALSAA Bowl in Dublin, Ireland. Arnesen pocketed 1.500 Euro and Adams received 500 Euro. 
James Tidd held off a strong challenge from Paul Moor en route to win the Coventry Open, the first Brunswick Team England event in the year 2006. Two-time defending BTE women's ranking champion Donna Adams targets her third consecutive title after winning the women's division in Coventry. 
The Irish Tenpin Bowling Association Senior National Championships took place over the weekend January 13-15 at Leisureplex Tallaght Bowl in Dublin. Brendan Healy, in his first Senior Championships, and Bernie Moriarty, a regular winner, claimed the coveted Masters titles. 
Champion Lasse Lintilä of Finland and Patricia Schwarz of Germany won the men's and women's rankings in the Brunswick Ballmaster Open, the first of twenty ranking events on the 2006 European Bowling Tour. Both players automatically became the first leaders in the 2006 European men's and women's rankings. 
The championship match in the Brunswick Ballmaster Open at Tali Bowling Stadium in Helsinki was an all-Finnish affair. Lasse Lintilä (pictured left), the Finnish anchor man and two-time U.S. Mini-Eliminator champion defeated reigning World Games and World Cup champion Kai Virtanen (r.) in a one-ball roll-off, 10-8, after a 256-256 tie.
Barry Eason, tournament manager of the Surrey county trials, reports that 12-year-old Elliot Crosby rolled the youngest 300 in the United Kingdom on January 7, 2006 at AMF Purley in South London, England. "Ell" accomplished the feat in the sixth game of the county trials at the age of 12 years, two months and ten days. It could have been the first perfecto rolled in sanctioned play in the UK for the year as well.
Erik Andersin (pictured right) defeated former Swedish International Göran Carlsson (left) in the championship match of the 26th AIK International Tournament, 186-180, to capture his first career title on the Swedish Super Six Tour and the 40.000 SEK top prize (approx. 4.280 Euro or USD5,165) . The AIK Tournament was the first stop of the 2006 SSST season.
The 2005 edition of the MTBA National Intermediate and Junior Championships was recently held at the Eden SuperBowl, St. Julian's, where 2004 Intermediate (U-23) Champions Matthew Caruana and Lorraine Casha (pictured) managed to hold onto their respective Male and Female titles. In the Junior (U-16) competition, Justin Caruana Scicluna and Luisa Buttigieg claimed the glory.
Helen Johnsson was elected female Bowler of the Year 2005 by the Swedish Bowling Federation. The 29-year old international had another outstanding year with many strong performances. She won her third Swedish National Championship in style and she did extremely well on the European Bowling Tour.
It's official now. The British Tenpin Bowling Association has announced that Dominic Barrett (pictured) and Donna Adams won the 2005 men's and women's Brunswick Team England rankings. The 2006 Brunswick Team England comprise players that have finished among the top 12 in the 2005 rankings and have played minimum eight events.
Paul Moor from England and Britt Bröndsted from Denmark led the European men's and women's ranking for the second consecutive year after the 2005 European Bowling Tour season ended in Sweden. Both players pocketed 5.000 Euro each for accomplishing the feat. The top 8 men and the top 8 women qualified for the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait. 
The European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF) has announced changes in the tournament format of the European Championships - adult and youth - and the European Champions Cup (ECC). 35 out of 46 member federations took part in an email ballot deciding on proposals made by the ETBF Presidium. 
Better late than never, as they say. The 2005 Spanish National Championships were recently held in Madrid. Dulce Fernandez (pictured) cruised to victory in the women's division as she was the only woman to average over 200 (204,94), outaveraging her nearest competitor by more than 13 pins. Juan C. Ramonde claimed the men's title averaging 228,83 for 18 games. 
After Malin Glendert made history when she became the first woman to win a tournament on the Swedish Super Six Bowling Tour, Nina Flack made it two in a row when she flew past World Champion Anders Öhman, 274-161, to win the tour stop in Västeras. The Swedish international pocketed 40.000 Swedish Kronor for her efforts, approx. 4244 Euro or 5059 Dollar. Glendert lost in the semis against Öhman and finished fourth. 
The European Bowling Tour has announced two more changes for the 2006 season. The Dutch Open 2006 will replace the Memorial Vendemini. The tournament will be held on the opening weekend of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany, June 7-11 in Scheveningen, Netherlands. The 2nd San Marino Open has changed its dates from October 9-15 to October 2-8.
