Liza Del Rosario leads Squad A after qualifying at 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup

    Filipina averages 221.95 for 20 games to hold a 93-pin lead as 36 of 70 women have completed the preliminaries; average to beat for 24th place is currently 199.60

    2014BWCLizaDelRosario.jpg2014BWCSandraGongora3.jpgLiza Del Rosario (pictured left) of the Philippines led Squad A for the fourth consecutive day to finish qualifying atop the 36-player leaderboard with 4439 total and an average of 221.95 for 20 games.

    The 2003 World Champion in Trios closed out qualifying with her lowest game (172) and her lowest five game series (1009) but beat out her nearest competitor in Squad A for the top spot by 93 pins.

    Sandra Gongora (right) of Mexico was second with 4346 and an average of 217.30 behind a 1074 series today including three games in the 230s. Sin Li Jane of Malaysia used a 1092 series powered by a 259 opening game to move into third place with 4226.

Fifth place belonged to 16-year-old Maria Bulanova (right) of Russia, the youngest European Bowling Tour winner at the age of 15, who chalked up 1080 and 4296 overall.

    Two-time World Cup champion Caroline Lagrange (pictured below left with Aumi Guerra, right) of Canada, who had a rough start into the tournament, averaged 230 for the round to jump into sixth place with 4285.

    The defending champion is 21 pins ahead of Cherie Tan (below right), Singapore, who lost to Lagrange in last year's title match in Siberia.

    Rounding out the top 8 was two-time World Cup champion Aumi Guerra, Dominican Republic, with 4246 and an average of 212.30. The top 8 after the intermediate round on Saturday morning will advance to round robin match play.

    With the bowlers from B Squad still to bowl their final five-game block, the average to beat for 24th place is currently 199.60. The top 24 women after qualifying will advance to the next round. All other players will be eliminated.

    Live coverage and live streaming commences on Tuesday, November 4th, with the first round of qualifying and concludes on Sunday 9th with the stepladder finals.

    2014BWCLogo.jpg The preliminaries consist of four blocks of five games with the top 24 men and the top 24 women after 20 games advancing to the intermediate round. Those 24 players bowl further 8 games with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 28 games will bowl a further seven games round robin match play plus one game position round (total 8 games) with 30 pins bonus per win and 15 for a tie.

    The top 3 men and the top 3 women after 36 games including bonus pins will determine the champions in the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format.
