Brittni Hamilton averages 224.20 for 20 games to win women's qualifying at QAMF World Cup

    American totals 4484 pins to lead the top 24 women into the intermediate round on Saturday morning; score to make the cut in 24th place is 3986 (199.30 average)

    2014BWCBrittniHamilton2.jpg2014BWCLizaDelRosario2.jpgTeam USA's Brittni Hamilton (pictured left) posted a 1032 series in the last qualifying round, for 4484 and an overall average of 224.20 en route to win the women's qualifying at the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup Friday afternoon at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland.

    The 24-year-old, who won the Team USA Trials to earn berth into the World Cup, averaged 206.40 in the fourth five-game block of B Squad including games of 224, 216, 200, 180 and 212 to overtake Liza Del Rosario (right) of the Philippines by 45 pins.

    The A Squad leader, 37, who won the gold medal in Trios at the 2003 World Championships in Malaysia, led Squad A for the fourth consecutive day to finish qualifying in second place with 4439 total and an average of 221.95.

    2014BWCClaraGuerrero2.jpg2014BWCSandraGongora3.jpgTwo-time World Champion Clara Juliana Guerrero (left) of Colombia, 32, who started her international career with a runner-up finish in the 2000 World Cup in Portugal averaged 221 for the round (1105) and 220.60 overall to leap into third place with 4412.

    Rebecka Larsen of Sweden, a 25-year-old two-time European champion, slipped one spot to fourth place with 4370 behind a 1041 series today.

    Sandra Gongora (right) of Mexico was fifth with 4346 and was followed by Sin Li Jane of Malaysia, who used a 1092 series this morning to make up some ground and to move into sixth place with 4226.

European champion and European Champions Cup winner Daria Kovalova of Ukraine who closed with a huge 265 for 1067 and 4314, good for eighth place overall.

    Martina SchĂĽtz (right) of Germany slipped from sixth to ninth place with 4303 behind a 1001 effort earlier today. Kaitlyn Commane of Australia rounds out the top 10 with 4297 and an average of 214.85.

    2014BWCHeidiThorstensen.jpg2014BWCAmandineJacques.jpgTwo-time World Cup champions Caroline Lagrange (2009, 2013) of Canada and Aumi Guerra (2010-11), Dominican Republic, made the cut in 13th and 17th place, respectively, with 4285 and 4246.

    Heidi Thorstensen (left) of Norway saved her best for last and rolled the highest block in Squad B with 1116 including games of 258, 215, 236, 194 and 213 to shift to 19th place with 4173 total.

    Starting the day "on the bubble", Amandine Jacques (right) of France used a 992 series including six games between 184 and 214 to maintain the 24th and last place to advance with 3986 total and an average of 199.30.

    The top 24 women will advance to the intermediate round on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Central European Time (CET). All other players were eliminated and finish in 25th to 70th place according to their 20-game totals.

    Live coverage and live streaming commences on Tuesday, November 4th, with the first round of qualifying and concludes on Sunday 9th with the stepladder finals.

    2014BWCLogo.jpg The preliminaries consist of four blocks of five games with the top 24 men and the top 24 women after 20 games advancing to the intermediate round. Those 24 players bowl further 8 games with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 28 games will bowl a further seven games round robin match play plus one game position round (total 8 games) with 30 pins bonus per win and 15 for a tie.

    The top 3 men and the top 3 women after 36 games including bonus pins will determine the champions in the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format.
