Kim Ko Woon (left) from South Korea and Lasse Lintilä (right) from Finland set the highlights Wednesday morning at the 13th Annual Mini-Eliminator. Kim posted the highest 3-game series with 743 to lead the 35 and under Division, while Lintilä, the 2004 Super Bowl Mini-Eliminator champion, shot 732 to advance from the Open Division.
Steve Ferraro defeated Dave Guindon 218-195 Tuesday night at The Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas to win the first of two Lane #1 Matchplay Shootout sweepers and the $2,200 top prize. Guindon received $1,500 for finishing second, while semi-final losers Rick Taylor and Scott Norton pocketed $1,250 each.

Mark Medel (pictured), Mississauga, Ont., Canada, earned two byes for the 13th Annual Mini-Eliminator finals as he advanced as the Division Daily Leader in the 205-average and under Division with 659. Tim Schwerdtfeger, Las Vegas, Nev., tied Greg Benefield, Blue Springs, Mo., in the 36 to 49 Division for the daily lead at 716. Benefield got the two byes as he had the highest game.

One squad after Team USA member Diandra Asbaty led the 35 and under Division, longtime Team Canada member Robin (Crawford) Orlikowski accomplished the feat in Squad 5. Orlikowski rolled a 683 series to receive one bye for the finals and is guaranteed $1,000. Mike Rose Jr. shot the highest series of the Open Division thus far with 741. Greg Benefield of Blue Springs, Mo., totaled 716 to set the pace in the 36 to 49 Division.

Don Fowler from Overland Park, Kan., rolled games of 248 and 258 to win the first of two Dexter Sweepers Monday evening in the 13th Annual Mini-Eliminator Center in Las Vegas. Fowler was the sole player to crack the 500-bar with 503 to win the $2,300 first prize.

2005 U.S. National Amateur champion Rhino Page of Fresno, Calif. fired a 719 three-game series in the second qualifying squad in the 13th Annual Mini-Eliminator to lead the Open Division and to earn minimum one bye for the finals, worth $1,000. Among the field in the 12am squad were four players from the Hong Kong national team, Vanessa Fung, Wu Siu Hong, Wicky Yeung and Daniel Yiu. The team is coached by Art McKee.

This year will feature 5 big events beginning with an Over/Under Doubles Tournament (July 1-2) & ending with the Mini-Eliminator (July 3-9). Tim Mack from Garfield, New Jersey and Terry Leong from Las Vegas (pictured with Mo Pinel ) survived four rounds in the finals of the MoRich Over and Under Doubles Championship en route to claim the title and the $10,000 top prize. In the championship match, Mack (278) and Leong (222) fired a 500 series to defeat Rhino Page of Lawrence, Kan., and Warren Nelson of Madera, Calif., 428, and Scott Pohl of Burnsville, MN, and Ron Mohr of Eagle River, Ark., 426.

Gary Kinyon of Lockport, NY, and Ray Cyr, New Hartford, NY, won the fifth and final qualifying squad in the MoRich Over and Under Doubles Championship to advance to the third round of the finals later today. The duo totaled 1377 over three games, an average of 229,50 per game. The tournament champions will split the $10,000 top prize.

Ron Case of Oakley, Calif., and Larry Hoffman of Fountain Hills, Ariz., shot the highest series thus far in the MoRich Over and Under Doubles Championship en route to lead the second qualifying squad with 1346 six-game total and an average of 224,33. As the squad leaders, the Roto Grip staffers received two byes into the third round of the finals, worth $2,000.

The duo felled 1342 pins and average 223,66 for the three games to win the first of five qualifying squads and to earn two byes for tomorrow's finals.

The Over/Under Doubles Tournament (July 1-2) is the first of five big events during the nine-day megabuck event. The winners will split the $10,000 first-place check.
